OUR VISION

love God, love people, share Jesus.  

"Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: ″Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:34-40   

All of the Law and Prophets hang on these two commandments. Powerful statement. All through scripture God has revealed to us His desire for us to love each other. What was Cain’s sin? Was it not loving his brother? Didn’t Jesus tell us to love our neighbors and even our enemies? Our vision is that the McGuffey Church of Christ would be a group of believers trying to live out this idea of loving God first and foremost, and letting that be our motivation for loving people. Which brings us to the third part of our vision- sharing Jesus. The best and most lasting way that we can love others is by sharing the gospel of grace that we have heard. There are no set formulas on how this is accomplished, and the best part of all is that God Himself is the one that convicts and convinces. We just have to testify with a loving heart. We aren’t trying to be original. We didn’t come up with this grand vision on our own. We are trying to be faithful.
